ICA Sverige
ICA Sverige is Sweden's leading grocery retailer, operating a network of independently owned stores under the ICA brand. Part of ICA Gruppen, it also provides store owners with a dedicated intranet for communication, operations management, and business support.
Problem
ICA Sverige’s existing intranet and editor interface were outdated and not fully optimized for store workers’ needs. Important information—such as news, delivery status alerts, and operational updates—was not always presented in the right context, making it harder for employees to stay informed and act efficiently.
Solution
✅ As a UX consultant, I redesigned the store intranet and editor interface to improve technical scalability, branding alignment and improve the usability.
✅ The new design streamlined navigation, prioritized context-based information delivery, and ensured that store workers could easily access the most important updates when needed.
✅ In parallel, we designed the editor interface, enabling ICA editors to easily publish news, information pages, and updates to specific store profiles.
Result
A scalable design system, enabling a cleaner, more intuitive user experience while improving developer efficiency and product agility.
The development of the store intranet & editor interface
Way of working
The dev team and I implemented a modern intranet platform tailored for ICA Sverige. Through extensive user research, user needs analysis, and exploring the broad eco system within ICA, we have created a long-term solution to enhance internal communication and knowledge-sharing among store employees all over the country.
Tight collaboration
By strengthening the communication between ICA Sverige and its stores, we have facilitated smoother information transfer. I’ve been responsible for gathering user requirements, the GUI design iteration and collaborating with stakeholders, ICA’s in-house designers and developers to ensure that the finished product aligns with ICA’s vision, needs and requirements.
The eco system
The project required a deep understanding of all operations at ICA Sverige, as the solution would affect both internal (ICA editors and officials) and external (ICA stores employees and managers) stakeholders.
